Peyton Humphries of South Glen Falls, NY, was presented with multiple awards during Hartwick College's spring recognition ceremonies. During Honors Convocation on May 3, Humphries received the Dr. David "Hutch" Hutchinson Award. Awarded by Hartwick's Department of Geology and Environmental Sciences, it was established by Dr. Hutchinson's student, Michael H. Young, Class of 1983. It is given to a rising junior or rising senior geology major for academic travel purposes including conferences, January Term programs, or thesis research. Selection is based on academic performance and financial need. At the College's Athletics Award ceremony on May 11, Humphries received the Philip S. Wilder Jr. Award for Academic Distinction, which is presented to athletes and/or managers of teams who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Humphries is a member of the Hawks men's swimming and diving team.

Students earned awards during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation on May 3.

Lucero Gomez of Nashville, TN, recognized with the Duncan B. Smith Award for Exceptional Creativity in Theatre during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation held on May 3. The award is presented to a student who has produced exceptionally creative work for a theatre class or production. Recipients are selected by the theatre arts faculty and receive a seminal text in the subject.

Brady Cummings of Shoreham, NY, was presented with multiple awards during Hartwick College's spring recognition ceremonies. During Honors Convocation on May 3, Cummings was named a Faculty Scholar in Public Heath. Faculty Scholars have excellent academic records and have demonstrated an outstanding mastery of their discipline. Rising seniors are nominated by the faculty in their major departments on the basis of academic achievement, leadership and character. At the College's Athletics Award ceremony on May 11, Cummings received the Philip S. Wilder Jr. Award for Academic Distinction, which is presented to athletes and/or managers of teams who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Cummings is a member of the Hawks men's soccer team.

Sam Cole of Wading River, NY, was presented with multiple awards during Hartwick College's spring recognition ceremonies. During Honors Convocation on May 3, Cole received the Departmental Award for Excellence in Computer and Information Science. The award recognizes students who have done outstanding work in their field. At the College's Athletics Award Ceremony held on May 11, Cole received the True Blue Award, acknowledging him as a four-year letter winner. Cole is a member of the Hawks men's swimming and diving team.

Faith Weaver of Clay, NY, was presented with multiple awards during Hartwick College's spring recognition ceremonies. Weaver was named a Faculty Scholar in Accounting during Honors Convocation on May 3. Faculty Scholars have excellent academic records and have demonstrated an outstanding mastery of their discipline. Joshua Worrell of White Plains, NY, was presented with the Socratic Award during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation on May 3. The award was instituted in 2001 by the Hartwick College Philosophy Department. It recognizes first-and second-year students who, in the judgment of the department, have demonstrated notable promise in textual comprehension and analysis, cogent written and oral arguments, and openness to constructive criticism.

Tianna Wyskowski of Vestal, NY, was recognized as an Andrew B. Saxton Undergraduate Fellow in Anthropology during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation on May 3. Fellows are selected by the faculty to recognize outstanding achievement. They serve as student assistants in their major department and receive a tuition credit.

Gabriel Valenzuela of New York, NY, was recognized with multiple awards during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation held on May 3. Valenzuela was recognized as an Andrew B. Saxton Undergraduate Fellow in Art History. A fellow is selected by the faculty to recognize outstanding achievement. Fellows serve as student assistants in their major department and receive a tuition credit. Valenzuela also received the Franz Boas Award in Anthropology. It is presented to a graduating senior based on exemplary performance and service to the Anthropology Department. Additionally, Valenzuela was given the Semenenko Clark Award for Outstanding Senior Thesis Presentation. The award was established by Christine Semenenko to promote excellence in the Department of Art and Art History. Funds support students as they excel in their chosen area.

Allison Villalobos of Poughkeepsie, NY, was awarded a John Hartwick Scholarship (JCH), the highest distinction Hartwick can confer, during the College's Honor's Convocation on May 3. Established by the Hartwick College Board of Trustees in 1967 on the recommendation of then-president Frederick M. Binder, the award is given to rising seniors nominated by the faculty of their major departments and based on academic achievement, leadership and character. Students nominated to compete for the JCH Scholarship are named Faculty Scholars. From among the Faculty Scholars, six are selected by the College's Scholarship Awards Committee to receive the JCH Scholarships. Beginning in 1997, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the scholarship, each JCH Scholar receives a medallion, which is to be worn at commencement and other appropriate academic occasions. The names of this year's JCH scholars will join those of the 299 previous winners on a plaque located in the foyer of Hartwick's Stevens-German Library. In addition, each JCH Scholar receives a substantial tuition grant and an honored place among those who stand for the very best of Hartwick College. Villalobos, who is pursuing studies in nursing, was named Faculty Scholar in Nursing. All scholars have excellent academic records and have demonstrated an outstanding mastery of their respective disciplines. Rising seniors are nominated by the faculty of their major departments based on academic achievement, leadership, and character. Additionally, Villalobos was awarded the Edith M. Lacey Memorial Nursing Scholarship, established to memorialize Miss Edith M. Lacey, founder of the nursing program at Hartwick and its director for nearly 18 years. It provides a scholarship to a junior nursing student with demonstrated academic achievement and abilities, promise as a future nurse, personal deportment and other outstanding characteristics.

Aniyah Stephen of Brooklyn, NY, was recognized with multiple awards during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation on May 3. Stephen was awarded the Dr. Ronald M. Brzenk Endowed Scholarship, established in his honor by former student John C. Doolittle. The scholarship is awarded to a continuing mathematics major for outstanding academic achievement and professional promise in mathematics or a mathematics-related career. Stephen also received the Mathematics Association of America Membership Award, which is given to junior or senior mathematics majors for high academic achievement and a high degree of professional promise in a mathematics-related career.

Pressnall received the Arkell Hall Foundation Award in Art & Art History. The award is given to outstanding students who have consistently contributed to the Department of Art & Art History. Eaton received the Anna Sonder Prize of the Academy of American Poets - Honorable Mention. Otto Sonder, late professor emeritus of sociology, endowed a prize in 1978 for the best poem written by a student at Hartwick College, to be awarded annually by the College under the auspices of the Academy of American Poets (AAP) in New York City. Hartwick College is a permanent member of AAP, which was founded in 1934 and is the largest organization in the country dedicated to advancing the art of poetry. To fulfill this mission, the academy administers a wide variety of programs, including the college prize program, which includes Hartwick College's Anna Sonder Prize. The prize honors the memory of Otto Sonder's mother, who died in 1978. Eaton was also presented with the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Award (Scholastic), which is given to the senior music major with the highest scholastic average.

Roselyn DuMerville of Brooklyn, NY, was recognized with multiple awards during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation held on May 3. DuMerville was recognized as an Andrew B. Saxton Undergraduate Fellow in Actuarial Math. Additionally, DuMerville was awarded the Andrew B. Saxton Undergraduate Fellowship in Economics. Lamphere Scholarship. Established by Dr. Elizabeth V. Lamphere through her estate for a junior chemistry major with an academic average of not less than 3.5, who is active in the Langmuir Chemical Society, aka Chem Club. Dr. Lamphere was the retired chair of the Science Department at the Norwich City School System. During her teaching career, Ms. Lamphere taught at both the high school and college levels. Demarais was also recognized during the College's Athletics Award Ceremony held on May 11. He received the Philip S. Wilder Jr. Award for Academic Distinction, which is presented to athletes and/or managers of teams who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Demarais is a member of the Hartwick Hawks football team.

Lauren Carey of Queensbury, NY, was recognized with multiple awards during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation held on May 3. Carey was given the Joan B. Gratz Prize in English, which goes to a rising junior majoring in English whose strong academic record and enthusiasm for the study of literature point to graduate work in English and a career as a highly successful teacher of English. Joan B. Gratz was a senior professor of English at Hartwick; the prize recognizes her 32 years of dedicated teaching. Carey also received the John Dewey Award, which is given to an outstanding student who best exemplifies the philosophies and goals of the Education Department.

Samantha Caceres of Lynnbrook, NY, was recognized with multiple awards during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation held on May 3. Caceres was awarded the Edith M. Lacey Memorial Nursing Scholarship, which was established to memorialize Miss Edith M. Lacey, founder of the nursing program at Hartwick and its director for nearly 18 years. It provides a scholarship to a junior nursing student with demonstrated academic achievement and abilities, promise as a future nurse, personal deportment and other outstanding characteristics. Caceres also received the Grace Jones Spain Scholarship, which was established as a memorial by her daughter, Joann S. Rasmussen. Mrs. Spain was a pioneer in nursing and an advocate for improved healthcare who dedicated much of her professional life to the settlement houses of New York City. The scholarship is awarded to a junior nursing or health professional major demonstrating academic achievement and financial need. Hartwick has over 80 years of experience preparing nurses at the baccalaureate level. The broad liberal arts and sciences education that complements Hartwick's nursing program provides the communication, critical thinking, informed decision-making, and leadership skills the profession demands. Hartwick nurses are highly qualified, self-directed individuals who are able to thrive in both the present and a rapidly changing healthcare system of the future.

Adrianna Dugan of Oneonta, NY, was recognized with multiple awards during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation held on May 3. Dugan was recognized as an Andrew B. Saxton Undergraduate Fellow in Chemistry. A fellow is selected by the faculty to recognize outstanding achievement. Fellows serve as student assistants in their major department and receive a tuition credit. Dugan also received the Otto Steinbach Memorial Scholarship in Chemistry. Established in memory of Chemistry Professor Dr. Otto Steinbach by his wife, Grace Steinbach, Hartwick Class of 1938, and former student Elizabeth Lamphere, Class of 1938, the scholarship is awarded to a rising junior or senior chemistry or biochemistry major who has demonstrated high academic achievement. Additionally, Dugan was awarded the Behrend Mehrtens '47 Memorial Scholarship, which was established in memory of Dr. Behrend Mehrtens, a former professor of religion. It is given to a rising junior with demonstrated excellence in music.

Melanie Mohn of Endwell, NY, was recognized with multiple awards during Hartwick College'sHonors Convocation held on May 3. Mohn was named a Faculty Scholar in Art and Art History, and a Faculty Scholar in Psychology. Faculty Scholars have excellent academic records and have demonstrated an outstanding mastery of their discipline. John "Jack" Mahn of Chattanooga, TN, was recognized with the Stephen L. Green American Governance Award during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation held on May 3. The award was established in 2012 by Stephen L. Green, Hartwick Class of 1959, to challenge students to not only strive for the best academically, but to also become informed and engaged citizens in our democracy. Awards are presented to students submitting the top research essays on a current public policy challenge. The annual contest challenges Hartwick students to write an essay that answers the prompt, "What is your assessment of the state of democracy in the United States, and what are three specific things you recommend in order to strengthen American democracy?"

Alani Waites of Chicago, IL, was recognized with the John F. Kingston Award in Theatre during Hartwick College's Honors Convocation held on May 3. The award provides a scholarship to the student who is most deserving, as determined by the faculty in Hartwick's Theatre Department. It was established by John Kingston, Hartwick Class of 1949, in memory of his son, Thomas, Class of 1976.

Sara Staup of Woodinville, WA, was recognized with multiple awards during Hartwick College's spring recognition ceremonies. During the College's Honors Convocation held on May 3, Staup was awarded the Jaune Quick-To-See Smith Award. The award is given by Hartwick Professor Emeritus of Art Phil Young in honor of the renowned contemporary Flathead-Salish artist and activist Jaune Quick-to-See Smith. It is given to a senior whose painting and multimedia work has been outstanding in experimentation and in visual strength. Staup was also recognized during the College's Athletics Award Ceremony held on May 11. Staup received the True Blue Award, acknowledging her as a four-year letter winner. Staup is a Hartwick Hawks women's soccer team member.
