Hartwick Women's Tennis Placed Four on CSC Academic All-District Team

The Hartwick Women's Tennis program landed four Hawks on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Gianna Leggieri '27 (Ballston Lake, New York) and Lily Vanuga '26 (Springville, New York) earned repeat selections to the All-District Team, while Maggie Van Valkenburgh '26 (Highland, New York) and Samantha Lantzy '27 (Valatie, New York) collected the first CSC academic honors of their careers as the reigning Empire 8 Champions continued to add to an impressive list of accolades. Leggieri enjoyed a breakout junior campaign, earning Empire 8 Doubles Team of the Year honors alongside partner Phoebe Olson '26 (Jamestown, N.D.). The duo dominated conference competition with a 9-1 Empire 8 record and finished with 13 overall victories at the top doubles spot. Their strong play earned them Empire 8 First Team Doubles honors and a Doubles Team of the Week selection. Leggieri also excelled in singles competition, posting a 12-5 overall record and an unbeaten 8-0 mark in conference play to earn Second Team Singles recognition. She was named the team's MVP and received Hartwick's Philip S. Wilder, Jr. Award for academic distinction earlier this year. Vanuga posted a 7-1 conference singles record to earn Empire 8 Second Team Singles honors while also excelling in doubles play. Partnering with Lantzy at No. 2 doubles, the pair finished with a perfect 10-0 conference mark and secured Empire 8 Second Team Doubles recognition along with a Doubles Team of the Week honor. Vanuga was named the recipient of Hartwick's Margaret Lunn Memorial Award, presented to a senior women's student-athlete who exemplifies athletic ability, leadership and sportsmanship. She also earned the Philip S. Wilder, Jr. Award for academic distinction and was named to the Empire 8 President's List in the fall. Van Valkenburgh made her debut on the CSC Academic All-District Team following another dominant season in the blue and white. The senior posted unbeaten conference records in both singles and doubles play while compiling 14 singles victories overall, including 10 in conference action, to earn Empire 8 Second Team Singles honors. In doubles competition, she teamed with Maddi Morrison '26 (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) to collect 11 wins and seven conference victories, helping the duo earn a Doubles Team of the Week selection and Empire 8 Second Team Doubles honors. Van Valkenburgh concluded one of the most accomplished careers in program history with a perfect 35-0 conference record across four seasons, helping guide the Hawks to four regular season championships and three conference tournament titles. She received Hartwick's LeRoy S. House, Jr. Memorial Award for exceptional enthusiasm, dedication and service to Hartwick Athletics and also earned the Philip S. Wilder, Jr. Award for academic distinction. Lantzy rounded out the quartet with the first CSC Academic All-District honor of her career after a standout junior season. Taking over the top singles position, she recorded 10 victories overall and posted a 7-2 conference mark. Her efforts earned her Empire 8 First Team Singles honors, and she was named Empire 8 Player of the Week three times throughout the season. Lantzy was also named the Empire 8 Women's Tennis Torchbearer Award recipient, recognizing the highest GPA among competing student-athletes, and received the Philip S. Wilder, Jr. Award for academic distinction.

Hartwick College Track and Field Earns Most All-Conference Honors Since Program's Return

Hartwick Hawks men's track and field picked up six selections on the Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference Teams. The blue and white earned their most all-conference selections since the program's reinstatement, capping another successful season. Leading the way was sophomore standout Cody Bazemore '28 (Bel Air, Maryland), who continued his impressive rise on both the conference and regional stages. Bazemore earned his second career outdoor all-conference honor, securing Second Team recognition in the 100-meter dash. Earlier this season, he collected USTFCCCA All-Region honors in both the 100-meter dash and long jump. During the indoor campaign, Bazemore was a two-time Empire 8 Second Team selection in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes while also earning regional recognition in both events. Senior Marquis Jones-McKinney '26 (Astoria, New York) capped a stellar final season with his first career Empire 8 All-Conference selection, earning Second Team honors in the high jump. Building on an All-Region performance during the indoor season, Jones-McKinney delivered a career-best effort at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships, clearing 1.93 meters to secure all-conference recognition. Earlier this year, he was also selected to the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team during the indoor season. Hartwick's record-setting 4x100-meter relay team also earned Third Team honors following a historic season. The quartet of Bazemore, Patrick Conteh '26 (Salisbury, Maryland), Shane Hunte '29 (Rosedale, New York) and Jaiden Deacon '28 (Valley Stream, New York) consistently rewrote the program record book throughout the spring and posted a time of 43.14 seconds at the conference championships. The honor marks the first all-conference relay recognition since the program's return. In addition to the all-conference selections, Larry McCumiskey '28 (Delhi, New York) was named Hartwick's representative on the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team. The award recognizes a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader in competition, the classroom and the community while consistently demonstrating honor, integrity, sportsmanship and service.

Hartwick College Softball's Ashlee Stevens Lands Spot on CSC Academic All-District Team

Junior infielder Ashlee Stevens '27 (Berne, New York) has been selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must compete in at least 90 percent of their institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of contests. Nominees must also hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Stevens served as a steady presence for a young Hartwick squad throughout the 2026 campaign, appearing in all 37 games while making 32 starts. The junior nursing major provided leadership and consistency for the Blue and White on both sides of the ball. Defensively, Stevens excelled at the hot corner, finishing second on the team with 48 assists while adding 33 putouts in her transition to third base after previously playing shortstop. At the plate, Stevens collected 12 hits, including two doubles, while driving in four runs and scoring 12 times. She also drew four walks and made an impact on the basepaths, swiping 10 bases without being caught all season. The honor marks Stevens' first CSC Academic All-District selection and adds to an impressive list of academic accolades this year. She was inducted into the 2026 Chi Alpha Sigma chapter, receiving Hartwick's Philip S. Wilder, Jr. Award for academic distinction, and earned recognition on the Empire 8 President's List.

Nate Roorbach of Hartwick College Selected to Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team

The Empire 8 announced its 2026 Men's Volleyball Tomorrow's Leaders Team on Thursday, April 9. Nate Roorbach '29 of East Aurora, New York, was named Hartwick's representative for the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team. This accolade is given to those who have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits of an outstanding sportsman. As a first-year setter and court captain, Roorbach appeared in all 26 matches, tallying 743 assists, 24 kills and 15 service aces. Roorbach led his team defensively with 186 digs, while knocking down 10 blocks on the season.

Hartwick College Football Names Four Captains Ahead of 2026 Campaign

The Hartwick Hawks announced its four team captains for the upcoming 2026 season. Head Coach Matt Rogers and his staff unveiled the team's leadership group, naming senior linebacker Robert Kennedy '27 (Hastings-on-Hudson, New York), senior defensive back Michael Vurchio '27 (Ronkonkoma, New York), senior wide receiver Miles Perry '27 (Ilion, New York) and junior offensive lineman Jeremiah Lee '28 (Bayport, New York) as captains. Kennedy and Vurchio will lead the Hawks' defense following strong junior campaigns that helped Hartwick finish in the top half of the Empire 8 in multiple defensive categories. Kennedy, a D3Football.com Team of the Week selection in 2025, is coming off a breakout season in which he totaled 56 tackles, including 10.5 tackles for loss. He also showcased his versatility in coverage, recording three interceptions and six pass breakups. Vurchio established himself as one of the top playmakers in the secondary last season. The Ronkonkoma native recorded 37 tackles, including six tackles for loss, while adding three interceptions and four pass breakups. On the offensive side, Perry hauled in 20 receptions for 337 yards and a team-leading four touchdown catches, finishing third on the team in receiving yards. Lee is expected to play a major role in the trenches after helping anchor an offensive line that paved the way for Hartwick's most productive offense since 2017. The Hawks finished third in the Empire 8 in passing offense while also producing their strongest rushing season in more than 15 years.

Six Hartwick Hawks Earn All-Conference Honors in Historic Inaugural Flag Football Season

Hartwick College's flag football program hauled in six Empire 8 All-Conference selections during its inaugural season. The blue and white placed six student-athletes on the All-Conference teams, trailing only regular season champion SUNY Geneseo, which led the way with seven honorees. Senior captain Ellie Kalbach '26 (Spring City, Pennsylvania) and first-year standout Ziyon Harrison '29 (Clay, New York) earned First Team Defense honors, while Audra Doll '29 (Greene, New York) added a Second Team selection at linebacker. Hartwick was also well represented on the Second Team Offense, landing three Hawks on the list, headlined by first-year quarterback Audra Doll. Bailey McCoy '28 (Otego, New York) and Anne Stanavich '27 (Amsterdam, New York) earned Second Team honors for their roles as receivers. In addition to the all-conference honors, senior center Brooke Sands '26 (Antwerp, New York) was selected as the team representative for the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team. This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. The Hawks enjoyed a strong inaugural campaign, finishing with four wins, including three in conference play, and punched their ticket to the inaugural Empire 8 Championship Tournament.

Ten Hartwick Hawks Selected to CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team

On June 16, the Hartwick Hawks earned ten College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections, with field hockey and men's and women's lacrosse combining to represent the blue and white on the prestigious list. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The CSC At-Large program recognizes student-athletes competing in sports that do not have their own dedicated Academic All-District category, including field hockey and men's and women's lacrosse. The men's lacrosse program landed four selections, headlined by senior standout Colin August '26. August was joined by fellow senior Ty Crowley '26, junior Steve Grossman '27 and sophomore Eddie Hughes '28. August earned his second career CSC Academic All-District honor, while Crowley, Grossman and Hughes each collected the recognition for the first time. The quartet played a key role in helping Hartwick secure another Empire 8 Tournament appearance and host a postseason game for the second straight season. August capped off a stellar senior campaign by earning Empire 8 Second Team All-Conference honors for the third consecutive year and representing the Hawks in the USILA Division III North-South All-Star Game. As a repeat Academic All-District selection, August will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with honorees set to be announced in July. Following another successful season, field hockey standouts Hope Angioletti '27, Ava Reynolds '28 and Natalie O'Malley '27 earned CSC Academic All-District recognition. The trio continues to add to an impressive list of academic accolades after also earning recognition as members of the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Angioletti collected her second CSC Academic All-District honor, while O'Malley earned her first selection and was also recognized as an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for maintaining a GPA of 3.90 or higher. Reynolds earned the distinction in her first season of eligibility. Angioletti enjoyed a standout junior campaign, finishing 10th nationally in NCAA Division III in assists per game while earning Empire 8 First Team All-Conference and NFHCA First Team All-Region honors. Reynolds turned in a breakout sophomore season, earning Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year honors along with NFHCA Second Team All-Region recognition. Both Angioletti and Reynolds will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot and will be considered for national honors later this summer. Women's lacrosse rounded out Hartwick's selections with three honorees, led by senior captain Jammie Decker '26, who earned her second consecutive Academic All-District selection. Decker was joined by junior midfielder Ashley Ament '27 and sophomore attacker Lily Dempsey '28, both first-time recipients of the award. The trio helped guide the Hawks to another Empire 8 Tournament appearance and played a major role in one of the program's signature moments of the season, a historic victory over Nazareth, marking the first win against the Golden Flyers in program history.

Hartwick College Athletics Announces Male Athlete of the Year

Colin August '26 of Garrison, New York, received the Roy Chipman Memorial Male Athlete of the Year Award during the Athletics Awards Ceremony on May 3. A member of the men's lacrosse team, August was honored as the top male athlete in the Hartwick athletic program. The award honors a student-athlete whose character and sportsmanship have made a positive impact on a team, the College and the community. In addition, August represented the Hawks in the prestigious United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III North/South All-Star Game on May 22 at Randolph-Macon College. One of just 58 Division III student-athletes selected for the annual showcase, August became Hartwick's first representative in the USILA North/South All-Star Game since 2019.

Hartwick College's Regan Kelly Earns National Recognition on Allstate NACDA Goodworks Spring Team

Senior defender Regan Kelly '27 (Warwick, N.Y.) of the Hartwick College Women's Lacrosse team has been named to the prestigious Allstate NACDA Spring Good Works Team, as announced on May 5 by Allstate and NACDA. The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team recognizes student-athletes across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA and junior/community colleges, for their outstanding commitment to community service. Honorees are selected across fall, winter, and spring seasons for their impact both on and off the field. Kelly is the first-ever Hartwick student-athlete to obtain this special honor. Kelly joins a select group of 20 student-athletes nationwide who exemplify excellence in athletics, academics, and community engagement. She played a pivotal role in organizing an NMDP "Get in the Game" swab drive on Hartwick's campus, helping add 64 individuals to the bone marrow and stem cell registry. The effort ultimately led to a life-saving match. That impact became deeply personal when Joe Holder, Kelly's boyfriend, was identified as a match and called upon to donate in February. Kelly traveled to Florida to support him throughout the process. Following the successful stem cell donation, Holder received a letter from the recipient's family, a 27-year-old woman, thanking him for giving her a second chance at life. "It is hard to put into words how much I am in awe of Regan's leadership," said Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Nora Fallon-Oben. "She went above and beyond to make the NMDP event happen on our campus, and it has come full circle for her and her family. Through her leadership, our team's efforts, and Joe's selflessness, we were able to help give someone a second chance at life. This honor is a reflection of Regan's commitment to something greater than herself and the integrity she brings to our program every day." Kelly's dedication to cancer advocacy and service is deeply rooted in her own life experiences. When she was nine years old, her father was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a form of blood cancer linked to his work as a New York City firefighter at Ground Zero following the September 11 attacks. He underwent a life-saving bone marrow transplant in 2013, receiving a donation from his sister. Inspired by that experience, Kelly has made it her mission to give back. Her leadership in organizing the campus registry drive created a powerful full-circle moment for both her family and the Hartwick community, demonstrating the life-changing impact of service. Here is Kelly's story in her own words: "When I was 9 years old, my dad was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a blood cancer caused by his work as a New York City fireman at Ground Zero on 9/11. He needed a bone marrow transplant, and NMDP, previously Be The Match, worked with local organizations and my family to find a donor. In 2013, he received a transplant from his sister, Noreen, which saved his life and changed our family forever. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with NMDP and the Hartwick community to give back to an organization that gave so much to my family."

Hartwick College's Anthony Ruggiero Named Empire 8 Men's Volleyball Player of the Week

Anthony Ruggiero '29 of Schenectady, N.Y., earned the Empire 8 Men's Volleyball Player of the Week honor on March 16, 2026. The Hartwick College Outside Hitter exploded for a season-high 22 kills, while hitting .488 in a five-set win over E8 foe Houghton University on Saturday. He added 10 digs and three service aces in the victory.

Hartwick College's Robby Lucas Named Empire 8 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

Robby Lucas '29 of Clarks Summit, Pa., earned the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week honor on Jan. 26, 2026. The Hartwick College first-year guard averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in two narrow losses against St. John Fisher and Nazareth. Lucas posted a career high 26 points against the Cardinals and followed that up with 13 points, nine rebounds and three assists against the conference leading Golden Flyers.

Hartwick College Lands Three on Women's Volleyball CSC Academic All-District Team

The Hartwick College women's volleyball team placed three Hawks on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and appear in at least 90% of their team's sets or start in 66% of them. A league-record 36 Empire 8 student-athletes from 11 institutions were selected. Shelby Swartz of Candor, N.Y., capped off a stellar senior season, earning Empire 8 First Team All-Conference honors for the first time, two Empire 8 Player of the Week accolades and a spot on the Empire 8 All-Tournament Team. Swartz led the Hawks with 379 kills, reached the 1,000 career-point milestone Nov. 8 and posted a career-high 21 kills while propelling Hartwick to its first-ever ECAC Championship title, earning tournament MVP honors. Lucille Walker '28 of Ithaca, N.Y., delivered a strong sophomore campaign, securing Empire 8 Second Team All-Conference honors for the first time. A consistent force in the middle, Walker ranked second on the team with 304 kills and added 71 blocks to tie for second on the squad. Isabella Gracias '27 of Oneonta, N.Y., put together another strong season from the right side, earning Empire 8 Third Team All-Conference honors. A constant offensive and defensive presence, Gracias posted a career-high 302 kills and led the team with 82 blocks.

Three Hartwick College Field Hockey Players Earn Regional Honors

The Hartwick College Field Hockey program placed three Hawks on the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Region III team. Juniors Katelyn Klotz of South Glens Falls, N.Y., and Hope Angioletti of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., earned first-team honors, while Ava Reynolds of South Glens Falls, N.Y., was selected to the second team. A total of 192 Division III student-athletes were named to the 2025 NFHCA Division III all-region teams. Division III is separated into six regions, with each recognizing up to 16 student-athletes on both the first and second teams. All three Hartwick selections also earned All-Empire 8 first-team honors this fall. Klotz was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year, and Reynolds received Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year honors.

Larry McCumiskey '28 of Delhi, N.Y., was named Hartwick's representative for the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team. This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they "compete with honor and integrity" and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen. One member of each Empire 8 team was named that institution's representative on the 2025 Men's Cross Country Tomorrow's Leaders Team.

Hartwick College Lands Two on Men's Soccer CSC Academic All-District Team

Devin Chandler of Wylie, Tex., and Alex Norgeot of Cohasset, Mass., were selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District list, signifying their impact both on and off the field. In order to be eligible for this esteemed honor, student-athletes must post at least a 3.5 GPA and appear in 90% or start in 66% of the team's total matches played in a season. Chandler started in all 17 games for Hartwick College, compiling three goals and ten assists in his debut season. The standout midfielder consistently dazzled throughout the breakout campaign, leading the Empire 8 conference with ten assists. Chandler also etched his name in program history, ranking tenth with 10 assists in a single season. Norgeot started 16 games for the Blue and White, tying for second on the team with two assists from his defender position. The Hawks constantly relied on the senior presence of Norgeot on the backline, helping command his squad to their fourth straight Empire 8 postseason appearance.

Hartwick College Lands Five on Women's Soccer CSC Academic All-District Team

The Hartwick women's soccer program placed five Hawks on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, recognizing their excellence in the classroom and their impact throughout a standout 2025 campaign. To qualify for CSC Academic All-District, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.5 GPA and appear in 90% of their team's matches or start at least 66% of them. Millie Caldon '28 of Gilmanton, N.H., turned in a strong sophomore season, earning a first All-Conference honor with a Second Team selection. Caldon started all 19 matches, tying for the team lead with four goals and adding two assists. Reilly Groff '27 of Monroe, N.Y., made a mark across 18 appearances, providing consistent energy off the bench. Groff scored twice on the season, including the game-winner against SUNY Poly at Elmore Field. Sara Moore '28 of East Granby, Conn., became an immediate factor and helped drive Hartwick's attack. Moore totaled two goals and one assist while proving to be a steady two-way presence. Mikayla Piersa '28 of Huntington, N.Y., anchored the defense in goal, emerging as one of the conference's top keepers. Piersa appeared in 18 matches, leading the Empire 8 with 10 clean sheets while posting an 86% save percentage and 72 total saves. Nelle Slavitsky '27 of Conklin, N.Y., capped the list with a strong junior campaign, commanding the midfield in all 19 starts. Slavitsky's defensive presence and ability to flip momentum were constants, netting the game-winner against Utica in a key conference matchup. These five honorees were instrumental in one of Hartwick's most successful seasons in recent years, helping secure the program's first Mayor's Cup title since 2018, along with a regional ranking and its first Empire 8 postseason victory since 2019.

Hartwick College Football Lands Three on Empire 8 All-Conference List

The Hartwick football program placed three Hawks on the Empire 8 All-Conference list, the conference announced Nov. 20. Kyle Trinkle of Monroe, N.Y., headlined Hartwick's honorees, earning a spot on the Empire 8 Second Team-his first career all-conference selection. Trinkle was a steady offensive catalyst throughout the season, recording 36 receptions for 444 yards and two touchdowns, all single-season career highs. Brennan McNeilly of Lindenhurst, N.Y., and Austin Cummings of Pavilion, N.Y., completed the trio of honorees with Third Team selections. McNeilly anchored the defensive front with 50 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, and also made a notable impact on special teams, blocking two extra points on Sept. 13 to earn Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Cummings proved to be a cornerstone of the offensive line, helping guide Hartwick to its most productive offensive season in more than a decade. His consistency and physical presence were instrumental in the Hawks' success both on the ground and through the air. In addition to the All-Conference selections, the Empire 8 announced senior Ben Kirkland of Buffalo, N.Y., as Hartwick's representative for the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team, an honor given to those who have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits of outstanding sportsmen.

Hartwick College's Cameron Drake Named Empire 8 Men's Swimming and Diving Swimmer of the Week

Cameron Drake '27 of El Cajon, Calif., earned the Empire 8 Men's Swimming and Diving Swimmer of the Week honor on Nov. 17, 2025. Drake made waves in the freestyle events at Empire 8 foe SUNY Brockport, securing several big wins on the board for the Hartwick Hawks with three first place finishes. Drake won the 1,000-yard freestyle by just under nine seconds in 10:27.87, took the 200-free by just five one-hundredths of a second in 1:49.76 and finished his day with a win in the 500-yard freestyle, hitting the wall in 4:57.62.

Hartwick College Student-Athletes Earn Empire 8 Field Hockey All-Conference Honors

The Hartwick field hockey program landed a total of seven Hawks on the Empire 8 All-Conference Teams, the conference announced Nov. 10. Junior Katelyn Klotz of South Glens Falls, N.Y., secured her first All-Conference First Team honor after having been previously named to the Third Team in the 2024 season. This year, Klotz was dominant on both ends of the field, leading the Hawks with a whopping 16 goals as a defender, two of them being game-winners. In addition to All-Conference honors, Klotz was recognized as the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year. Joining Klotz on the First Team is junior Hope Angioletti of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., receiving her second consecutive All-Conference First Team honor for her performance in the midfield. Angioletti led the team with 11 assists this season and snagged 8 goals, two of which were game-winners. Mackenzie Hubbard of High Falls, N.Y., secured First Team honors for the Hawks, earning three assists as a defender. This is the junior's first All-Conference recognition. Ava Reynolds of South Glens Falls, N.Y., not only earned First Team honors, but was also named as the Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year. Reynolds started in goal for all 17 games, surpassing 100 saves in a single season ending with 114 total saves and an .838 save percentage. On the All-Conference Second Team is Natalie O'Malley of Pleasantville, N.Y., who closed out a solid junior season with 3 goals and 2 assists. This is O'Malley's first All-Conference recognition. Rounding out the All-Conference selections are Third Team honorees Kayla Kinkel of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and Makayla Bales of Sidney, N.Y. Kinkel closed out the sophomore season with her first All-Conference recognition and ranked second on the team with 9 goals and 8 assists. Bales also secured her first ever All-Conference honor after a tremendous sophomore season. Bales collected 5 goals, including a game-winner at Keuka College on Oct. 29. In addition to the All-Conference selections, the Empire 8 announced senior Zoe Wagner of Lockport, N.Y., as Hartwick's representative for the Field Hockey Sportswoman of the Year team, an honor awarded to those who have demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship.

Hartwick College Student-Athletes Earn Empire 8 Men's Soccer All-Conference Honors

The Empire 8 announced the All-Conference selections for men's soccer Nov. 11, with the Hartwick Hawks landing three players on the squads. Senior Will Napierala of Endwell, N.Y., and rookie Devin Chandler of Wylie, Texas both earned Second Team All-Conference honors and first-year Mathieu Six of Antwerp, Belgium was named to the Empire 8 Third Team All-Conference. Napierala, Hartwick's captain, was a threat in the midfield to stop key scoring opportunities from the opposition, while still managing to post one of three shots on goal. This is Napierala's first All-Conference selection. Chandler played a crucial role on penalty corners and led the Hawks with 10 total assists in his debut season. This feat landed him in the Hartwick record books as 10th All-Time in assists in a single season. Chandler also scored three goals, including a game-winner in a victory at Houghton University on Oct. 11. Another key starter for the Hawks, Six led the team with five goals as a defender this year, including 3 game-winners. Six also posted a tremendous .714 shot on goal percentage and went 1-1 on penalty kick opportunities. In addition to All-Conference selections, the Empire 8 announced first-year Mariano Kool of Amsterdam, Netherlands as Hartwick's representative for the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team, an honor given to those who have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits of outstanding sportsmen.

Hartwick College Student-Athletes Earn Empire 8 Women's Soccer All-Conference Honors

The Hartwick women's soccer program has landed three Hawks on the Empire 8 All-Conference list, the conference announced Nov. 11. First-year Ella Grupe of Freehold, N.Y., sophomore Millie Caldon of Gilmanton, N.H., and junior Trinity Irizarry of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., earned All-Conference Second Team honors. As a rookie, Grupe notched 4 goals and 4 assists, including a game-winning goal at Keuka on Oct. 4. In addition to the All-Conference selection, Grupe was recognized as the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year for the standout debut season with the Hawks. While Caldon put up 4 goals this season, including the lone tally in a victory over RPI on Sept. 7, as well as 2 assists. Irizarry was another incredible asset to the team this year, starting every game for the Hawks as a defender and shutting down multiple crucial scoring opportunities for opposing teams. In addition to the All-Conference selections, the Empire 8 named senior Nicasia Santos of Flemington, N.J., as Hartwick's representative for the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team, an honor given to those who have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits of an outstanding sportswoman.

Hartwick College Student-Athletes Earn Empire 8 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Honors

A total of four Hawks from the Hartwick women's volleyball team have been selected for Empire 8 All-Conference honors for their standout performances this season, the conference announced Nov. 13. Senior Braelyn Hornick of Candor, N.Y., received a third consecutive First Team All-Conference selection for contributions as a setter. This season, Hornick has been an integral part of the Hawks' attacking formation, leading the Hawks with 745 assists to bring her career total to 2,797 and climbing. Hornick also tallied 49 kills and 30 aces this season. On defense, Hornick collected 177 digs and 20 total blocks. Beside Hornick on the All-Conference First Team is fellow senior Shelby Swartz of Candor, N.Y. This is Swartz's first time earning All-Conference First Team honors, having been previously named to the Second Team last year and the Third Team in her sophomore season. Swartz led the team in kills this year, totaling 348 while also managing 31 assists and 52 blocks. She also ranked second on the team with a total of 283 defensive digs. Sophomore standout Lucille Walker of Ithaca, N.Y., earned Second Team honors. Walker exploded for 272 kills and snagged 14 assists. Walker was also unshakeable at the net, ranking second on the team with 69 total blocks. This is Walker's first ever All-Conference recognition. Rounding out the Hawks' All-Conference selections is junior middle hitter Isabella Gracias of Oneonta, N.Y., who earned Third Team recognition for the first time. Gracias held down the defense with 75 crucial blocks and 30 digs and on the offense, ranked second on the team in kills with a total of 282. In addition to the All-Conference selections, the Empire 8 has also named senior Mary Kinnane of Rockaway Beach, N.Y., as Hartwick's representative for the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team, an honor given to those who have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits of an outstanding sportswoman.
