Hartwick College Showcases 23 Artists in "Creating Currents" Faculty and Staff Exhibition
Oneonta, NY (09/10/2026) — Hartwick College's Art & Art History Department opened its faculty and staff art exhibition, "Creating Currents," at the Foreman Gallery of Contemporary Art. Running through Oct. 16, 2026, with the gallery closed Sept. 25, the exhibition spotlights the creative work of artists connected to the department and brings together a range of artistic practices, perspectives and experiences.
"Creating Currents" features the work of 23 artists, honoring the ongoing studio dedication of current full-time faculty while celebrating contributions from part-time instructors, department staff, recent interns, retired professors, and the work and legacy of the late Phil Young. The exhibition spans multiple generations and artistic approaches, including ceramics, glass, painting, drawing, digital art, works on paper, and bent wood boxes.
Featured artists include: David Allen, Richard Barlow, Kim Carr '96, Zachary Cummings, Fiona M. Dejardin, Gloria Escobar, Shawn Everette, Bailey A. Ernst '25, Leah H. Frankel, Brendan Bernhardt Gaffney, Kevin Q. Gray '01, Roberta Griffith, Erik Halvorson, Kylee Hosmer '26, Katharine Kreisher, j s pincus, Pareesa Pourian, Stephanie A. Rozene, Terry Lee Harmon Slade, Georgia b Smith, Joseph Von Stengel, Jessica Stoutenburg and Phil Young.
The public is invited to the opening reception for "Creating Currents" on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Foreman Gallery of Contemporary Art in the Anderson Center for the Arts. The gallery, Hartwick's contemporary exhibition space, welcomes the public during gallery hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
